Welcome one and all to the glorious year of 2018. Only 7 days in and I can already feel the New Year resolutions dissolving into next year resolutions, haha who am I kidding I never made any. Some reading this may have made resolution to hit the gym and eat well to get that “perfect” bikini body or to save money for that well deserved holiday you were going on all about last year or to generally be a better person first.
No matter what it is you chose to improve in yourself, a goal needs to be set and an action plan for that goal. The first step in reaching your New Year resolution is to take baby steps- you have 365 days of baby steps to reach the top of 2018 and those goals.
Wanna lose weight set monthly targets; for example in January walk around the block and cut out that unnecessary biscuit you have with your coffee or tea

Want to save money? - set weekly or monthly target. Aim to put 50 a week or a month, another good challenge is to keep all the gold coins or $5 notes you get- before you know it all the gold coins will be weighing down your pockets enough to buy a ticket to your dream holiday destination.

For those who want to be a better person, hit up Pinterest and see what they have to offer. You can search for so many ways to being a better you, my board 2 0 & 1 8, helps me to realise what is important to me and what I feel I need to improve on. I love monthly goals, as it is only one thing that I need to focus on instead of everything you want to accomplish.
So out with the New Year Resolution and in with goals and aims (or as I like to call them CHALLENGES), because at the end of the year you want to be able to continue these new habits into next year and the year after that and so on.
I believe I need to learn about me; I need to discover what I am made of, what I do and don’t enjoy and what makes me get out of bed for a new day even when you feel the world is against you. So I welcome you to my 52 WEEK GRATITUDE CHALLENGE. I adjusted it to work with the seasons of Australia opposed to the Northern Hemisphere.
Week ONE: Why start this Challenge?

What a great question to start 2018 off with! i am not sure about you but the word “challenge” scares and excites me. My friends may say I am cautious at times and a perfectionist at other times but really I hate failing. Challenges can either make or break you but at the end you learn that it was either easy or too difficult and your timing wasn’t right.
The reason I am starting this challenge is to challenge myself- to find gratitude every day, in the small things and unexpected times. I work full time as a food and beverage supervisor, I live on my own for the first time as an “adult” and last year I lost a few loved ones due to rifts in relationships and it has broken me, it has torn me apart but there is light at the end of tunnel or I wouldn’t be here right now.
A challenge is to learn from ones mistakes or as I like to call them lessons, and this 52 week gratitude challenge will challenge me on many levels: Spiritually, physically and emotionally! I will have my down days and I will have my up days, life is a rollercoaster and if you are living a high for a long period of time when will you hit rock bottom and will you be able to get back up?
I hope by doing this challenge it will not only open my eyes to the potential and worth I am in this world but also to those who took the time to read this and thought to themselves- that is so me or I am not the only one out there who thinks like this. My aim is to complete this weekly, share it with the world alongside small snippets of my week and/or month to share inspiration that we all can be a little FOMO, awkward and amazed with the world around us.
Stay tuned for next week’s challenge entry: Spouse/ Significant other – 52W.G.C.
On a side note; I want to become more healthy, save more and be a better person to myself first - these are the challenges I have set for 2018 and years to come.
BEFORE YOU GO, I forgot to mention that I have also set myself another challenge- the 52 WEEK PHOTO CHALLENGE, head over to my Instagram or to my other Photo Challenge page to stay up to date on my weekly snaps.
